Outward Bound International Character in Context
Public DepositedGiven the existing literature on the Outward Bound (OB) pedagogical approach and conceptualizations of character, we conducted multiple case studies of OB Schools worldwide to explicate how OB Schools effectively target character through course design and implementation. We were especially attentive to the cultural and contextual diversity of the OB global network and how such diversity could be honored in our results. The dataset includes interviews with cultural informants, survey data used to select OB Schools for inclusion in our case study sample, and case write-ups for 11 OB Schools.
