Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Coal sample REE quantification in this study followed methodology detailed in Coe et al. (2024), relying on the coupling of portable x-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analysis to quantify a subset of REE (Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd) using an Olympus Vanta M, followed by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis using an 8900 Triple Quadrupole on a select sample subset for quantification of all REE. Methods for processing the data: Data is generated into an .xls format by the pXRF upon daily completion of analysis. ICP-MS data is delivered from the laboratory in an .xls format as well. 3.
